About RP Benefits and the Experience Behind Our Guidance

Who We Are

For many employers, finding benefits guidance is easy. Finding a broker who stays involved after enrollment is much harder. RP Benefits was built to provide personalized employee benefits consulting and insurance guidance for employers and individuals who want direct access to an experienced advisor rather than a rotating support team.

Based in Potomac, Maryland, RP Benefits serves clients throughout Montgomery County, Bethesda, Washington, DC, and Northern Virginia. Our clients include small businesses, professional practices, self-employed professionals, families, international travelers, and employers who need practical support navigating employee benefits decisions.

Robert Poli is the President and CEO of RP Benefits, an employee benefits agency specializing in services for small to medium-sized businesses. With 36 years of industry expertise, RP Benefits is committed to delivering the highest level of service.

Prior to founding RP Benefits, Rob was part of BenefitMall, the largest general agency in the country, where he led the Mid-Atlantic sales team. He began his employee benefits career at Insurance Marketing Center, where he played a key role in transforming the agency into one of the leading general agencies in the Mid-Atlantic region. After selling Insurance Marketing Center in 2015, Rob continued his contributions to the agency for an additional five years to support the new ownership and facilitate further growth.

Robert has served as the past President of the Greater Washington Association of Health Underwriters and is a recipient of the Health Underwriter of the Year award. He is also a lifetime qualifier for the Leading Producers Roundtable. Additionally, he has been the Chairman of Agents for Change, a grassroots association focused on modernizing the insurance industry.

Currently, Robert is involved with several carrier advisory boards, including CareFirst, United Healthcare, Kaiser Permanente, as well as various non-medical carriers and administrators.

Built Around Real Benefits Experience

The employee benefits market has changed dramatically over the last three decades. New regulations, evolving healthcare costs, changing workforce expectations, and expanding technology platforms have created both opportunities and challenges for employers. RP Benefits was built on 36 years of experience across multiple sides of the insurance and benefits industry, including brokerage leadership, wholesaler ownership. That background helps clients gain perspective that goes beyond product recommendations and focuses on building sustainable benefits strategies.

Why Employers Work With RP Benefits

Many employers tell us the same thing before becoming clients. They are frustrated by delayed responses, transferred phone calls, and service models that make them feel like a policy number rather than a valued client.

RP Benefits takes a different approach.

Guidance for Employers and Individuals

While employee benefits consulting remains a core service, many clients rely on RP Benefits for personal coverage guidance as their needs evolve over time.

Business owners who initially need individual insurance solutions often return when their company grows and becomes eligible for group benefits. Families seeking health or life insurance guidance frequently appreciate having one advisor who understands both personal and business-related coverage decisions.

This broad perspective allows RP Benefits to support clients through different stages of life and business growth while maintaining one trusted relationship.
